Welcome to the website for South Africa Visa Application Centres in China at Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

This site provides information on procedures applicable to all Chinese residents and Other Nationals residing in China, who wish to apply for a visa to travel to South Africa.

Applicants who intend to apply for Diplomatic/Official/Courtesy visas are required to submit their applications directly at the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Beijing / South African Consulate General in Shanghai.

If you wish to apply for a temporary visa or Permit to South Africa, kindly read the information on this site carefully. If you follow the guidelines listed on this site, you will be able to submit your documents accurately. This will reduce the chances of your application being rejected due to inadequate or faulty submission of documents.

Who qualifies for this Visa:

A visa may be issued to foreigners who wish to go on holiday (tourism), visit family and friends, attend business meetings/negotiations/workshops/seminars/conferences. Only certain countries require a visa for South Africa. The countries listed in Visa Exemption List do not need a visa (subject to the conditions indicated) for South Africa. If a nationality /Country is not listed in the Visa Exemption List, then a visa is required.

A Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (If that person traveled or intends travelling from or through a yellow fever area) , Vaccination certificate is required from travelers from these counties

Other important information regarding visas:

Only applicants with valid residence in the PRC can apply through the South African Embassy & Consulate-General in the PRC.
The visa only enables the holder to proceed to a port of entry before or on the expiry date of the visa, where the holder must comply with the applicable law, regulation and entry requirements.
The visa shall upon admission, be considered to be a permit for the purpose of the Act and the period of validity of that permit shall be calculated from the date of admission.
The period for which a permit will be valid will be set out under the heading: “conditions” on the visa label.
Applicants must ensure that they apply for the correct visa/permit as any change in the purpose of stay may be refused if the purpose of the original entry was not correctly stated.
The holder of a visitor’s permit may not conduct work unless specifically authorised to do so in terms of Section 11(2) of the Act.
The holder of a visitors permit may not establish or operate a business.
Visas cannot be applied for at a South African port of entry (for example, an airport).
Any applicant allowed entry into South Africa due to misrepresentation, or false declaration on the application form or who stays in South Africa in contravention of his/her visa/permit conditions shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment as an illegal foreigner.
After a visa is issued, the passport must contain one unused “visa” page for entry stamps.

Applicants are requested to read the following steps carefully before submitting their application in person at the South Africa visa application center at Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou.

Please note:

All the applicants should submit their applications in person according to passport’s place of issue. All the applications have to be lodged in respective Visa Application Centre where their passport place of issue belongs to.If applicants are from Beijing Jurisdiction, can submission their applications at Visa Application Centre at Beijing or Chengdu. If applicants are from Shanghai Jurisdiction, can submission their applications at Visa Application Centre at Shanghai or Guangzhou.
However, if the applicants have special conditions, they need to demonstrate the certain documents such as temporary residence permit or employment certificate etc while applying to prove that they cannot apply for a visa in their jurisdiction.

Beijing Jurisdiction:
All the provinces & cities besides of the provinces or city which belong to Shanghai Jurisdiction (Shandong, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Fujian, Anhui, Zhejiang Provinces & Shanghai City). Please refer to Shanghai Jurisdiction mentioned below.

Shanghai Jurisdiction:
Shandong, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Fujian, Anhui, Zhejiang Provinces & Shanghai City.

In Person only

Step 1 : Applicants from China are required to submit their applications in person at the South Africa Visa Application centre in Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai or Guangzhou, between 08:00AM to 03:00PM (Monday to Friday) except on the holidays mentioned in the holiday list.
Step 2 : Make a clear copy of all the original documents, previous UK, US, Canada, Japan and Schengen visas and three clear copies of passport data page.
Step 3 : Complete the visa application form. You can download the  Application form DHA-84 (Visit and Transit Visa) or Application form DHA-1738 (Other Visa type)
Step 4 : You may refer to ‘Important News & Notices’ section on the right side of this page & look for any relevant updated information or notices before applying.
Step 5 : Pay your visa application fee and services fee at the Visa Application Centre, along with your application form & required documents mentioned on this site as per your visa type
