Welcome to the website for South Africa Visa Application Centres in China at Beijing & Shanghai

This site provides information on procedures applicable to all Chinese residents and Other Nationals residing in China, who wish to apply for a visa to travel to South Africa.

Applicants who intend to apply for Diplomatic/Official/Courtesy visas are required to submit their applications directly at the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Beijing / South African Consulate General in Shanghai.

For Prospective Applicants

If you wish to apply for a temporary visa to South Africa, kindly read the information on this site carefully. If you follow the guidelines listed on this site, you will be able to submit your documents accurately. This will reduce the chances of your application being rejected due to inadequate or faulty submission of documents.

Who qualifies for this Visa:

A visa may be issued to foreigners who wish to go on holiday (tourism), visit family and friends, attend business meetings/negotiations/workshops/seminars/conferences. Only certain countries require a visa for South Africa. The countries listed in Visa Exemption List do not need a visa (subject to the conditions indicated) for South Africa. If a nationality /Country is not listed in the Visa Exemption List, then a visa is required.

A Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (If that person traveled or intends travelling from or through a yellow fever area) , Vaccination certificate is required from travelers from these counties

Other important information regarding visas:

Only applicants with valid residence in the PRC can apply through the South African Embassy & Consulate-General in the PRC.
The visa only enables the holder to proceed to a port of entry before or on the expiry date of the visa, where the holder must comply with the applicable law, regulation and entry requirements.
The visa shall upon admission, be considered to be a permit for the purpose of the Act and the period of validity of that permit shall be calculated from the date of admission.
The period for which a permit will be valid will be set out under the heading: “conditions” on the visa label.
Applicants must ensure that they apply for the correct visa/permit as any change in the purpose of stay may be refused if the purpose of the original entry was not correctly stated.
The holder of a visitor’s permit may not conduct work unless specifically authorised to do so in terms of Section 11(2) of the Act.
The holder of a visitors permit may not establish or operate a business.
Visas cannot be applied for at a South African port of entry (for example, an airport).
Any applicant allowed entry into South Africa due to misrepresentation, or false declaration on the application form or who stays in South Africa in contravention of his/her visa/permit conditions shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment as an illegal foreigner.
After a visa is issued, the passport must contain one unused “visa” page for entry stamps.
VISA APPLYING PROCESS
Applicants are requested to read the following steps carefully before submitting their application at the South Africa visa application center at Beijing or Shanghai.

Please note:

All the applicants should submit their applications according to passport’s place of issue. All the applications have to be lodged in respective Visa Application Centre where their passport place of issue belongs to.
However, if the applicants have special conditions, they need to demonstrate the certain documents such as temporary residence permit or employment certificate etc while applying to prove that they cannot apply for a visa in their jurisdiction.

Beijing Jurisdiction:
All the provinces & cities besides of the provinces or city which belong to Shanghai Jurisdiction (Shandong, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Fujian, Anhui, Zhejiang Provinces & Shanghai City). Please refer to Shanghai Jurisdiction mentioned below.

Shanghai Jurisdiction:
Shandong, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Fujian, Anhui, Zhejiang Provinces & Shanghai City.

In Person or through representative

Step 1 :
Applicants from China are required to submit their applications at the South Africa Visa Application centre in Beijing or Shanghai, between 08:00AM to 03:00PM (Monday to Friday) except on the holidays mentioned in the holiday list.
Step 2 :
Make a clear copy of all the original documents, previous UK, US, Canada, Japan and Schengen visas and three clear copies of passport data page.
Step 3 :
Complete the visa application form. You can download the application form  from our website.
Step 4 :
You may refer to ‘Important News & Notices’ section on the right side of this page & look for any relevant updated information or notices before applying.
Step 5 :
Pay your visa application fee and services fee at the Visa Application Centre, along with your application form & required documents mentioned on this site as per your visa type

Courier

Please be informed that the courier application delivery & visa fee remittance is ONLY available for domestic. The applications mailing from other countries cannot be acceptable at the Visa Application Centre. Due to the legal compliance, the purpose for remittance should be indicated correctly as VISA FEE & SERVICE CHARGES when you remit the fee for courier applications.

Information for Courier Applications from Mongolia: Please note that the courier applications for Mongolian passport holders who reside in Mongolia should be directly sent to the Embassy with the correct visa fee remittance CNY 560 to Embassy’s bank account mentioned below.

The counter applications can be available at the visa application centre either visiting in person or through the representatives.


Step 1 : Applicants prepare documents according to the checklist and send the signed checklist along with the documents by EMS to the VAC.
*Please note that we will not accept any applications delivered by other courier company.Only the applications which are delivered by EMS will be acceptable.
When you send the documents to the VAC, please put one more completed EMS slip into the envelope.
Step 2 : Applicants should remit to VAC bank account visa fee, service fee and EMS courier charge (RMB50 per applicant) for passport pass back.
*Please be advised that the name of remitter should be applicant’s name.
For Beijing Jurisdiction, the counter remittance from the applicant’s local bank account is available from 7 March 2011.
Online transfer will be available later.
Please remit the corresponding fee into the bank account mentioned below.

* When you send the documents to respective centre by EMS, please be noted that the bank slip has to be sent to us along with applications. (copied available)
Step 3 : Applicants need to send Email to the VAC email ID to which documents have been sent, to intimate the courier details and applicants’ details. Scanned bank slip and EMS airway bill number
Step 4 : If courier is received and payment confirmed before 13:00hrs, the application will be processed on the same day..If courier is received after 13:00hrs and payment confirmed, then the application will be processed on the next working day.
Step 5 : The checklist will be verified by VAC staff. If there are any documents missing it will be counter marked on the checklist. Missing documents will be intimated to the applicants on their email id with a copy to post. Post may ask the applicants for the missing documents if necessary.
Step 6 : ICR will be generated by VAC and original one will be put into the passback envelope to be returned. Scanned receipt and EMS slip will be sent to applicant by email for online tracking.
Step 7 : If there is discrepancy of fee, VAC will inform the applicant via email with a copy to the post. Only when the balance is remitted to VAC and confirmed by account, VAC staff will process to entry data into application system.
a ) Incase of short collection, applicant will do the payment of the additional amount at the Bank & a new receipt will be issued. The applicant should scan the same to the Visa Application Centre.
b ) Incase of excess collection, the additional fee amount will be kept back by the Embassy. There will be no refund of the excess collection.
